Templated abilities are skills that do not require a target, such as line attacks, AoE attacks, or cone attacks.[1]
- Q: Do I have to have a target in my crosshair to use Snipe or Quick Shot?
- A: For abilities it depends on the ability. If the ability requires a target, yes will be required to have a target, even in the action mode. If the ability however is a templated attack, such as a line attack, or AOE attack, a cone attack: those will not require you to have a target. You can fire those anticipating movement of an individual or target within the zone of of effect.[1] – Steven Sharif
